Fun Day at Anestar Boys Lanet: When the Rope Gave Way

Anestar Boys Lanet Senior School held its Fun Day on 28 September 2026, bringing parents, teachers and students together for a day of games, friendly rivalry and good food. Our student Journalism Club was there to report every moment, and they did not hold back.

The first big result came on the football pitch, where the students beat the teachers 4–0. Our reporter was quick to comfort the losing side: there is always a next time, and perhaps next time the teachers might look for a better goalkeeper. He even suggested they might at least win in swimming, though not all of them.

The students had another victory to celebrate. They also took on their fathers in a friendly contest and won, although our reporter suspects the fathers played a little soft.

Then came the tug of war, which drew the biggest laughs of the day. When the teachers faced the parents' team, the principal decided to step in and help. The rope promptly parted ways in the middle. Our reporter's verdict: a true follower of Samson.

But Fun Day was about more than winning and losing. Parents were able to bring food for their sons, and our school's beloved 'grandmother' cooked and provided meals for every student who did not have a visitor, so no one went without. She also proved she can jump and stretch with the best of them, and the students only ask that next time, she scores a goal.

Our reporters ended with a round of thanks: to the director and the administration for organising one of the best events with our parents, to the principal for supporting the school and the event, to the sports teacher whose effort made the day exciting, and to every teacher who played and lost with good humour.

In the words of our student reporter, signing off from the newsroom: 'God bless you, God bless Anestar, God bless our grandmother.'
